Dance Fitness Classes

Moderate/Highest Intensity:

Acro-stretch
Have you ever wanted to be able to do an over-split?  Or touch your toe to your head by arching your back?  This class is not for the meek!  Learn techniques to get you bendier than ever in this Chinese-circus-inspired stretching class!  Not for relaxation, we will get you to your flexibility and mobility goals and beyond!  Not quite ready for acro-stretch?  Start with Sexy Flexy!  Scroll below for a description under “Lowest Intensity”.

Ballet Bootcamp
This high intensity class combines movement inspired by classical dance with the fast pace of a bootcamp class. Work up a sweat during this full-body workout while developing long, lean muscles by using your own body weight as resistance! No dance background is necessary as this is not a technical dance class and all moves can be modified to suit any fitness level! Tone up, Lean out and have fun!  Don’t be fooled by the name!  Instead of ballet slippers, wear supportive runners and be prepared to sweat!

Ballfit
Get Ready to bounce! Not your typical Exercise Ball Class. This fun and challenging class will burn fat and work your core at the same time using an exercise ball.  Running shoes are a must, bring your water bottle and be prepared to sweat!

Poleaerobics
Put on some leg warmers, unitards, and tights! While you’re at it, crimp your hair and throw a headband on! This upbeat 80s-style aerobics class will get your heart pumpin’, your abs burnin’ and legs workin’! We use the pole to help us, but don’t worry: you don’t need to have any pole dancing experience at all in this class. No spins, no inversions! Reservations required. Running shoes are a must.  Leg warmers and unitards would make our day.

Polefit
Get strong and fit in this high-intensity conditioning class! Everything we do is on the pole, so if you’re a pole dance enthusiast, this class will get you in shape for gravity-defying pole moves! If you like to spend your workout time off the pole, this class is still amazing for core and upper body strength training. Registration is needed. Running shoes are required for the warm up. If you are an advanced pole student (able to do inversions) please bring shorts. Otherwise, any work out bottoms will do.

Moderate/Lower Intensity:

Bellyfit
Bellyfit is a fabulous fusion of fitness and dance. In the first half of the class, burn mega calories with fun and sexy cardio moves inspired by Bellydance, African Dance and Bollywood. In the second half of the class, feel the burn with a Pilates-inspired core workout to strengthen and tone the waistline. Yoga inspired stretch and closing Mudra Meditation leave you feeling relaxed and refreshed. Please wear running shoes, comfortable fitness clothing, and bring a water bottle – you will need it! Shimmy your way to a healthier you.

Cardio Striptease
We believe sweating is sexy. We start off with a hip-action-packed warm-up and cardio routine combining some fun and engaging dance steps to get your heart-rate going and your brain working! Then we slow it down and learn a hot striptease routine (clothes on, shoes off!).  Please wear runners for the cardio portion of this class, and stretchy clothing for the striptease portion.

Dance Conditioning
Dancers of all dance and fitness levels will enjoy this class! Disco, Swing, Latin, and Hip Hop are just a few of the dance styles you will encounter coupled with a few dance-conditioning drills to build greater muscular strength and endurance. Cross-training like this will transform you into a well-rounded dancer with greater rhythm, coordination, and fitness.

MTV Choreography
Bringing tha’ funk in the house this class is a mixture of hip hop, house dance, and dancehall. Always upbeat and always bumpin’ with high energy you’ll learn original combos choreographed by the instructor as well as combos directly from some of the hottest music videos. True story: the class ends with a kick butt 10-minute ab routine so you will be the dancer with the sculpted, and super strong core.  Please wear indoor runners or sneakers.

Zumba
This is a high-energy, upbeat Latin-inspired dance fitness class that will get you burning calories while moving to a saucy dance mix! Bring your dance shoes, lots of water, and a smile! Got two left feet? Not to worry! Zumba is about feeling good, having fun, and moving your body to the music! Running shoes/supportive shoes recommended.

Lowest Intensity:

Lap Dance
Using a chair for a prop you will learn a full lap dance routine. The slow movement forces you to use more muscle control to really tone those core muscles. Layer up and bring some heels. Time to empower yourself and tap in to that sexy side. This is a great class to not only find your own comfortable movement but also to become aware of your own body.  Sexy shoes are recommended but not required.

Sexy Flexy
The first half of this class really breaks down dynamic movement such as hip circles and rib cage circles, the second half is on the floor and works on flexibility of the lower body. The extreme isolation’s used in this class will promote mobility while the PNF and other stretching techniques will increase flexibility. Combined with strength moves on the floor this is a overall conditioning class and one of our most popular classes at Tantra. It is a slower paced class, but don’t think that it’s any less of a workout. Come work on your splits! You don’t have to be flexible to start this class.  Wear stretchy, moveable clothing, and bring an extra layer in case you get chilly in this slow-paced class.

Pole 101
This level will teach the basic technique of pole dancing. We will go through safety tips including shoulder engagement and wrist alignment. This level will also help to build your strength with emphasis being placed on the upper body and core giving you the confidence to move to the next level. Every move you do gives you a great stretch, creating long lean muscles. You will feel stronger, your body will begin to tone and tighten, and you will feel muscles you never knew you had. Some students will need to repeat some of this level before moving on to Pole 202.

Pole 202
Now that you have learned the basics, we will start to put the moves into sequences and routines. While continuing to condition your body you will also learn some transitional moves so you can start to dance and this is when you start to burn more calories. You will safely learn a new and challenging move each class strengthening your muscles for the next level.

Pole 303
This is when it gets really fun! This is an advanced class for those who have finished the first two levels. We will learn moves that require a lot of upper and lower body strength, making it a full body workout. You will start to focus on the muscle engagement necessary to take you upside down! The basic technique of inverting will prepare you for learning pole tricks.

Pole 404
Now that you have the strength and confidence to go upside down, we’ll start learning tricks, advanced spins and holds. Hang from one leg, transition one invert to another and really start to learn circus like moves on the pole.

Seen something you want to learn? Bring the idea to class and we will work on it:)
