Crystal Lai – Advanced Pole Dance Instructor

Crystal Lai is proud that her 5 years of pole training have culminated in her becoming Miss Pole Dance Canada and winning Best Entertainer and People Choice at the World Pole Dance Championships. Crystal enjoys bringing her bubbly personality to upbeat routines, but can also demonstrate grace and control to more melodic music. As a senior instructor at Tantra Fitness in Vancouver, she hopes to use her platform to educate the public about the sport of pole dancing. Crystal also hopes revealing her lack of a dance or gymnastics background will inspire future pole dancers who question their potential; pole dancing can truly stand alone to develop strength and fluidity. With her dancing, she wishes to help progress the technical and performance aspects of her sport.
Daniela Wilman Aerial Yoga Vancouver Daniela Wilman- Studio Coordinator & Aerial Yoga Teacher
A born athlete and native Vancouverite, Daniela has been actively involved in sports since she could walk. As well as being a competitive gymnast, she has a background in dancing, soccer, softball and volleyball. Daniela became passionate about body awareness and helping others when she encountered some injuries and mobility difficulties herself. Her passion for yoga became her profession when she completed her Yoga teacher training with Ajna Toga Centre in Victoria in 2009. She has since expanded her repertoire to include Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga, Chair Yoga (for students with limited mobility or advanced maturity), Pre/Post natal. When Daniela saw that Tantra was looking for a new studio coordinator, she knew she had to be a part of this fantastic community! It is her goal to help promote body awareness and help guide others to a more positive and energized life. Daniela is excited to expand her role at Tantra to include aerial yoga, and help even more students express themselves, and achieve balance and happiness.
Delphine Leroux Dance Fitness Vancouver Delphine Leroux- Dance Fitness Instructor
Delphine trained in Montreal at l’Ecole Superieure de Ballet du Quebec, where she studied classical ballet, contemporary dance and improvisation. She started her professional dance career at the age of 19 in the Okanagan where she was a member of Ballet Kelowna for two seasons. She then moved to Vancouver to join Ballet British Columbia for four years. For the past three years, Delphine has  become a very successful freelance dance artist, working internationally and collaborating with many exciting artists.
Because of her extensive dance experience and cross training (pilates and yoga), Delphine has a strong understanding of the human body and loves sharing her passion for movement. Delphine believes that everyone is a dancer and enjoys stimulating this discovery in each person that comes to her class!
Diana Pietroianu – Pole Dance Instructor
Diana has had a passion for sports from a very young age and has always been open to trying new forms of exercise. She started pole dancing while attending UBC in 2008 and fell in love with it instantly. She loves the challenge and strength that pole dancing entails. Diana teaches advanced pole, pole spin and partner pole. She enjoys giving students a fun and challenging workout…so that they feel sore the next day ;) Besides pole dancing she likes to keep active by trail running, hiking, rock climbing, volleyball, and stand up paddle boarding. She competed in Miss Pole Dance Canada in 2011 and plans to one day compete again! She has her CPR C Certification and is in the process of completing her Fitness Theory.
Hannah Fletcher – Pole and Dance Fitness Instructor

Hannah Fletcher has been teaching fitness classes for almost a decade and teaches anything and everything including pole fitness which she has taught for the last 5 years! She is BCRPA and ISSA CRT and in 2009 was awarded BCRPA’s Fitness Leader of the Year.
Jane Connell Jane Connell – Pole Dance Instructor

Jane has been moving to music her whole life, and is thrilled to add pole dance to her repertoire! She trained on Vancouver Island from a young age in ballet, modern, and stage dance, participating in provincial competitions and performing around British Columbia. She took a break from these dance forms while attending law school at UVic, but continued to explore other fitness activities like kick-boxing. Jane discovered pole fitness at Tantra when she moved to Vancouver in 2011. Pole dance re-awakened Jane’s love of movement artistry, while surprising her with it’s unique ability to empower your mind and body in a way no other dance form can. Jane was inspired to join Team Tantra as an instructor, and is excited to watch the pole industry grow and help newcomers join in!
Jen Yan – Pole and Dance Fitness and Silks Instructor

Jen has dabbled in all kinds of fitness: pilates, yoga, rock-climbing, dodgeball, kickboxing, crossfit and of course, aerial silks and pole dancing! Her background coming into these sports was a certificate in teaching piano…no dance, gymnastics or even organized sports! Jen hopes to inspire those who have “never done anything like this before” to come on out and give it a try!
In school to become an Expressive Arts Therapist, you’ll often find Jen making descriptive arm movements and sound effects to aid in her teaching :D. Laughing, grunting, tears and sweat are welcome in any and all of her classes!
Julianne Chapple – Dance Fitness Instructor

Julianne is a classically trained dancer, choreographer and instructor with a passion for all things dance! With an extensive background in ballet and contemporary, her classes introduce students to the proper alignment and technique while improving balance, coordination and grace that can be applied to any style of performance. Professionally, Julie has performed with a variety of companies and productions in Canada, Germany, Italy and Ireland and continues to work as a contemporary dance artist here in Vancouver. 
Kathryn Schellenberg – Burlesque Instructor

Kathryn, a Vancouver native, has been professionally performing and teaching in the dance industry for over 12 years. Performing in shows abroad from Los Angles to Florida, Spain to Bermuda. She has trained in LA, New York and Vancouver in a wide variety of dance styles. Most recently she is working on her own production Endeavours and is the director of The Darlings Cabaret, a modern cabaret show.

Some of Kathryn’s performing and choreography credits include, The Russell Peters’ 20th Anniversary Tour, The Tina Turner Tribute Show, Bermuda Red Cross, Telus, Flight Centre, Holt Renfrew, recording artist Cory Lee, opening acts for Chingy, Jordan Knight, Shawn Desman and Keshia Chante. Some of her TV and film credits include:”Hellcats”, “Sucker Punch”, “Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief”, “Sorority Wars”, “Frankie and Alice”, “Caprica”, “Another Cinderella Story 2″ and “White Chicks”. As well Kathryn has been featured in numerous music videos and live shows.

Katie Cresswell – Aerial Hoop Instructor

Katie is a circus artist who specializes in aerial hoop and partner acrobatics. She is an ACSM/OFA certified personal trainer and NCCP1 trampoline coach. Katie began training in dance, gymnastics and circus at the age of 3, with dreams of the stage. Over the years, Katie attended McGill University’s Conservatory of Music, The National Circus School of Montréal, and Circomedia of the U.K. She is also co-founder of the experimental circus company “Random Acts of Circus”, a founding member of CircusWest’s “Avatar Circus Project”, and has taught, choreographed and performed throughout Western Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. Plagued by injuries through most of her career, Katie returned to study personal training with a goal to develop aerial and acrobatic training that strengthened and balanced the body, improving performance and consistency while focusing on injury prevention and body awareness. She is excited to be part of the Tantra team, and looks forward to kicking butt in every class!
Laura Gorden – Bellyfit Dance Fitness Instructor

Laura is a classically trained dancer, performance artist and fitness enthusiast. Her fitness credentials include: BCRPA Group Fitness Leader, Bellyfit instructor training and Zumba instructor training. The core of her technique comes from over a decade of training in ballet, jazz, tap, modern and bellydance. These days, Laura dazzles audiences regularly around Vancouver with her hula hoops, LED props and fire shows. Laura has taught at many venues around Vancouver but is thrilled to call Tantra Fitness her home studio! Her teaching style is always upbeat, fun and creative. Expect to find plenty of shimmies and booty shaking moves in her classes – a fusion of feminine and fitness. In August 2012, Laura will have completed her program in Holistic Nutrition and will be a certified Nutritionist!
Marilu Sensalsa Vancouver Tantra Fitness Marilu Retana – Dance Fitness Instructor

Born in Mexico City Marilú has been dancing and teaching dance for more than 10 years. She received a bachelor degree in Contemporary Dance in the National School of Arts in Mexico City and worked with many important choreographers, Latin Artists and on various Mexican TV shows. She also has a background in Pilates, Hip hop, Jazz and all kinds of Latin dance styles. Now in Vancouver she has been sharing her passion for dance by collaborating with contemporary local artists and teaching dance fitness, Zumba, Contemporary Jazz, Salsa and all kinds of Latin dance styles. After she won Vancouver’s Sexiest Dancer award in 2013 she decided to create a company and a new sexy latin style class called SENSALSA to share her culture, her passion and blend of techniques. “Dance is my Freedom ……. is my life”.
Mel Rogerson Melanie Rogerson – Pole and Dance Fitness Instructor

Melanie’s passion for fitness and high energy is infectious! With over 15 years in the fitness industry, she has taught all over the world from the UK to Russia. Her knowledge and versatility has made her relatable to all fitness enthusiasts. Being a certified pole fitness instructor and yoga teacher makes her ability to create a balance in the studio seem effortless. She has competed in various fitness and figure competitions over the years, as well as taking home a silver medal in Sport Aerobics at the Canadian Nationals.

With an affinity for self-expression, full body awareness and love of life Quisha brings balance, core strength, awareness and peace of mind to all who share the journey of her classes.  Traditionally trained in ShiJiaZhuang, Hebei China, Quisha brings a unique style and tops it with unsurmountable confidence and personality.  Her goal in life is for all beings to be happy and she delivers the message through fitness, self-development courses, volunteering and a career as a professional organizer.  Born to own the stage, Quisha enjoys bringing out the sexy seductress in every woman.  A true believer in “How you do one thing in life, is how you do everything” and aims to help all discover their ‘one way’…her one way, is with LOVE.
Rachel Noemi – Studio Coordinator

Rachel joined the Tantra Fitness team as one of the studio coordinators because of her love of health and fitness. Passionate about singing, acting, nutrition, dancing, yoga and all things creative, she is excited to learn to Pole dance and is immensely enjoying being a part of such a dedicated and beautiful community of people!!
Ricky Pang – Pole Fitness Instructor

Ricky’s introduction to pole life came upon watching Steven Retchless compete on America’s Got Talent in the summer of 2011.  This was Ricky’s summer of “Yes” where he must experience anything without hesitation and truly live outside of the comfort zone.  Inspired by a male pole performer’s artistry and athleticism, pole lessons immediately followed.  Ricky’s gratitude to Tantra Fitness and the fellow instructors is endless for the on-going wealth of knowledge and guidance provided toward all members throughout the increasing popularity of this sport.  Ricky currently holds the CPR C (Adult and Children) and First Aid Certification.
Tammy Morris – Founder, Owner, Head Instructor

Tammy Morris has been a professional pole dancer for 16 years travelling all over the world to perform. She started as an exotic dancer and moved in to the fitness industry in 2003. She is a certified Pole and Group Fitness Instructor and is an owner of Tantra. She has won over 15 titles over the span of her career including 1st Runner-up Miss Pole Dance World and Best Pole Tricks at Miss Pole Dance World. Her passion for teaching shines through in her classes. Her upbeat distinctive style is sure to keep you challenged and entertained! Tammy has taught thousands of women of all shapes and sizes how to pole dance. Her breakdowns and patience help students understand the moves and achieve their goals.
Tara King – Dance Fitness Instructor and Studio Coordinator

Tara’s interest in fitness began at the age of 5, when she began her 13 year journey in classical ballet. Her interest in fitness quickly spanned on to such things as figure skating, soccer, and working out to fitness videos and at the gym. At 16, Tara took to the ring in Muay Thai Kickboxing, training with the fighting teams at kickboxing clubs in BC, Alberta, and Ontario. During this time Tara realized that her passion lie in the fitness industry so she went along to earn her BCRPA Fitness Instructor certification. In 2012, Tara decided to come home to the west coast, to be a part of Tantra Fitness. Although her specialty is hardcore bun-burning classes such as bootcamp and boxing, Tara is also a certified Yoga teacher. Tara believes in living a lifestyle that keeps you looking great, but more importantly makes you feel even better. By incorporating training for strength, balance, flexibility, and fun in all her classes, Tara is able to accomplish just that. Other certifications: Can-Fit-Pro Fitness Instructor Specialist and Nutrition and Wellness Specialist, current CPR-A.
Vanessa Parent – Pole and Dance Fitness Instructor

Vanessa is an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer and Specialist in Performance Nutrition and has been working in the industry for 6 years. She has been active her entire life having been a competitive Equestrian from the age of 8 and through various dance training throughout the years. Vanessa has a passion for health and wellness and prefers to teach clients the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of exercise and nutrition instead of just telling them what to do. A healthy and balanced approach to every aspect of one’s life is the only way to achieve the fitness level and physique desired and that’s what she strives to instill in her clients. It’s a lifestyle choice and she leads by example. Vanessa teaches a hard core bootcamp and “Abs and Butt” class for corporate clients such as Vancity and The Center for Blood Research at UBC and is happy to now be part of the Tantra team! Her approach is specific to sculpting the female form and building long, lean and firm bodies. She is available for personal training sessions catered to you specific needs and nutritional consultations which include such services as reviewing your current eating plan, grocery excursions and healthy cooking techniques and meal planning.
Veronica Solimano – Pole Dance Instructor

Veronica has always been drawn to acrobatic activities, ingrained in her from a young age as she was a competitive gymnast while growing up. Years after retiring from gymnastics, Veronica tried to find a sport that challenged her physically and felt more like fun than a work-out. She finally found what she was looking for & was instantly hooked in 2004 when she discovered pole dancing at Tantra Fitness with Tammy Morris. She has now trained at Tantra for 6 years and has been an instructor for the upper-level pole classes since 2008. Veronica has performed solo, duo, and trio pole routines in Vancouver Canada, Glasgow Scotland, and Lima Peru. She has participated in two competitions, coming 2nd in the Vancouver Pole Dance Challenge (2005), and more recently, placing 3rd in Miss Pole Dance Canada 2010. Other than pole dancing, Veronica obtained her Bachelors of Science in Biology from UBC, where she was also the head gymnastics instructor (NCCP certified) for 5 years. She then obtained her Masters in Physiotherapy from Glasgow Caledonian University in Scotland in 2008 and now works full time as a pediatric physiotherapist in Vancouver. Veronica also has her BCRPA fitness theory, CPR C, and first aid certifications. She likes to keep active mainly through pole dance but also enjoys skiing, hiking, camping, biking, and zumba. She also has a very keen interest in traveling and has visited many countries in South America, Africa, Europe, the UK, and Malaysia. Veronica loves how pole creates an empowering and supportive environment for everyone. She strives to share her passion for the acrobatic side of pole and hopes she can inspire and motivate you to keep challenging yourself to achieve that next level.

Winnie Lai – Owner, Studio Manager

Winnie began exploring her passion for pole dancing in Toronto in 2005. She found her home studio in 2008 when she discovered Tantra Fitness and the wealth of instruction offered there by pole dance maven Tammy Morris. In 2010, Winnie left her full-time job in order to pursue her pole dance teaching career with Tantra Fitness. As of August 2011, Winnie is proud to announce her co-ownership of Tantra Fitness Vancouver, and enjoys her role as Studio Manager for this vibrant community of teachers and dancers.
